Heavy Metal on the Airwaves Symposium

It was wonderful to be a part of the first Heavy Metal on the Airwaves Symposium and have the opportunity to share my paper ‘Cultivating Subculture in Virtual Spaces: The Importance of Online Radio for Underground Metal’. The day was filled with so many wonderful papers, and spending the evening at the Show No Mersey showcase was a perfect way to end a day of metal!

An Inclusive Metal Scene? Parts I, II & III

I had the pleasure of collaborating with Igor Jakobsen and Anna Loppacher, both from Dreamslain, and Aud Jektvik for a roundtable discussion on intersectional inequality in the metal scene. Our discussion focuses primarily on the Western metal scene and our own experiences across the UK and Western Europe. The resulting works are published on the German metal site, Epic Metal Blog.
