Academia
Holly, BA (Hons), MA, is a doctoral student from the Institute of Gender Studies and Department of Popular Music at the University of Chester, UK. Her research focuses on investigating the impact of the seemingly intrinsic masculine nature of metal onto intersectional groups in ‘invisible’ and ‘visible’ spaces across heavy metal subculture, and the significance of micro-interactions between scene members.

Music
Holly is a musician, vocalist and composer in the realms of metal and alternative genres. See the music page for more information about bands, projects and releases. Crossing borders of classical and popular music, Holly is a guitarist, vocalist (clean & harsh), keyboardist, and is a composer and lyricist. 

Music Industry Roles
As a music journalist, Holly writes predominantly for The Soundboard. She has also published work at AntiHero Magazine (US), Scholastic Perspectives (formerly Madness to Creation) (US), The Metal Lab (UK), On The House (UK), Musipedia of Metal (UK), and Epic Metal Blog (Norway).

Holly is a music PR agent specialising in the promotion of hard rock and metal acts. She runs Deviate PR and works with the North American based company C Squared, founded by Curtis Dewar (formerly Dewar PR), and Corinne Westbrook, who operate hybrid music PR and marketing services.

Additional Roles
Holly offers freelance writing services including proof-reading, editing and content writing. Recent works include Corinne Westbrook‘s ‘The Hollow One’ (2026), as proof-reader, and Stephen Wundke ‘The Luck You Have is the Luck You Make: The Story of David Pickering Pickering’ (2022), as researcher.
